Changing Design Styles
Stuck in a rut?
We see in magazines new and flashy new trends, but are they right for you. It is never too late to update, but where should you start, and by the time you finish, will your new design style be out of style again. A good place to start is a hard look at what you have now. If the last time you freshened your look was 20 years ago, it’s time. Traditional and Mediterranean styles were a very popular look for decades but now emerging trends are changing faster than our bank accounts can keep up. A good place to start is to purge the clutter. New trends are more modern with sleek lines and few details. On the flip side is the farm house look or an updated shabby chic style which is a more relaxed, less tailored environment. To decide which style is best for you, take a look at what you have now. What do you still like, and what is ready to donate, sell or simply throw out. Some items can repurposed to a whole new look that you might not have thought about. Also, look at magazines and see what is appealing to you. The best approach to a new style is start with the basics and add trendy items that are easily replaced such as pillows and accessories.
The most important element is to love where you live and make it your own.
